Jose Mourinho's third season with his previous club were not at all successful, and marked with controversies. A poor start to the English Premier League and alleged rifts with star players like Paul Pogba have only added to Mourinho's woes. They are languishing 10th in the league, and United desperately need motivation to improve as the season goes on.
But his team seemed to have gained some form when they came back from a 2-0 deficit against Newcastle United to win the match, and held a high flying Chelsea to a 2-2 draw. There is no doubt that Jose Mourinho would like his players to continue the good form against the mighty Juventus.
Moreover, their UEFA Champions League standing is not convincing enough, though they are second in their group. Valencia are third, and they face Young Boys and so United will expect them to pick up all three points. Another loss will surely add more fire to the rumours linking Mourinho with the sack.
