Three Star Club of Nepal left for Malaysia to participate in AFC President's Cup

Nepal’s National Football League (Martyrs’ Memorial A Division Football League) champion Three Star Club left for Malaysia to take part in the AFC President´s Cup which is scheduled to be held from September 23 to 29, 2013 at Hang Jebat Stadium, Melaka.

33-member team consists of 20 players, two coaches, one manager, one physiotherapist, and club officials. The players includes eight players who were the members of the Nepal national football team that competed in the recently concluded SAFF Football Championship. Three Star Club’s President Lalit Krishna Shrestha and All Nepal Football Association President & AFC Vice President Ganesh Thapa, among others, bade farewell to the Malaysia bound team.

Three Star is in group A along with Erchim FC of Mongolia and Balkan of Turkmenistan while group B consists of KRL Football Club of Pakistan, Alquds Hilal Club of Palestine and Dordoi of Kyrgyzstan. The winner of each group will compete for the title of AFC President´s Cup.

Three Star will take on Erchim in its first match on Monday and will take on Balkan on Wednesday. The final will be held on September 29, 2013. The winner will walk away with $ 50,000 while the runners up will take home Rs 25,000.

Three Star had secured a place in the final as winner of group A in the qualifiers held from May 7 to 11, 2013 at Kathmandu. Erchim FC of Mongolia also made it to the final rounds as runner up from same group in the four team qualifiers event held.
