Time for Wayne Rooney to take a stand for his transfer

Rooney has a decision to make

It is clear that if Wayne Rooney wants to leave Manchester United and join Chelsea he will have to force the move by submitting a formal transfer request.

At the moment things are stalled as United do not want to sell and are within their rights to refuse all offers received until they feel their valuation has been met, which when selling to a rival is a figure that simply does not exist.

Therefore, the second factor in all transfer deals, the desires of the player will come into action. Unhappy players are a cancer in the dressing room and a high price and a firm and unequivocal desire to leave from the player often breaks the deadlock.

For the second time in his career Rooney will have to throw his toys out of the pram to move away from David Moyes.

It is time for Wayne Rooney to “man up” and risk the wrath of the Manchester United supporters by declaring that he wants to leave. This will test the resolve of new man David Moyes and drive down the player valuation.

Whilst I am still unsure if Rooney would be a shrewd signing, it is clear that Mourinho personally sees him as part of him plans and therefore, I will trust his judgement and hope the club are able to make it happen for the Special One.

Chelsea have done their bit by putting firm offers on the table, now the ball is firmly in Rooney’s court to decide if he wants to stay or if he wants to go.
