Tomáš Rosický. A name that was setting clubs on fire in 2006. He started his career at Sparta Prague and eventually transferred to Borussia Dortmund in 2001 for a reported fee of €14.5 million. Rosický was getting popular by the minute during his time at Dortmund. In 2006, Rosický made it clear that he wanted a change in environment, and shifted from Dortmund to Arsenal as Robert Pires’ replacement. He took over the number 7 shirt. Rosický was nicknamed as ‘The Little Mozart’ in Germany for his ability to orchestrate play on the pitch. Rosický had an immediate impact at Arsenal when he joined in the 2006-07 season, scoring 6 times and assisting 4 times in 37 appearances.
He enjoyed a good second season for Arsenal. He was ruled out for the whole of 2008-09 season because of his hamstring tendon injury. Rosicky hadn’t been the same since, until the epic comeback that Arsenal made on 26th February, 2012. It was a day no Gunner can forget. Rosický scored in the 50th minute of the game, which somewhat rejuvenated him. It was then that Rosický was back. He was later on named Man of the Match in the game against Milan, which Arsenal won 3-0 for his amazing performance. He also scored in the same match. Unfortunately, before the start of the 2012-13 season, he picked up an injury at the Euros and made his comeback only during the 2-0 loss to Swansea. He however scored an amazing goal in the 2-1 loss to Olympiacos in the Champions League. Rosický has lost his touch, but I believe that Rosický can be as good or even better than the likes of Cazorla and Silva.
Wenger described Rosický as a player with remarkable vision and first touch. Rosický has struggled to find form in recent times but if given the chance I do believe he can be the player he once was, even at the age of 31. He is amazing at what he does and he isn’t the Czech captain for nothing. Rosický has a lot of spirit and rarely has lazy performances. He can make those quick dribbles and fast runs that a natural playmaker does. Rosický just needs the chance. Wenger needs to play Rosický. Cazorla has degraded since his performance against Reading and I think its because he’s so jaded.
I’m sure if Rosický plays, he will put in a cracking performance and with Rozza in the middle, Cazorla can shift to his more natural right midfield position. Rozza needs to fight for his starting spot and needs to keep his place. I believe in Rosický and so should all of the Gunners.
