Seemingly contrary to comments asserting that he will “definitely” remain at Bayern Munich next season from the club’s chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Toni Kroos has reignited speculation of a summer move to Manchester United.
The above tweet details a conversation German football journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft reports to have taken place between Kroos and himself following last nights Champions League quarter-final between Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
He also told Munich’s TZ newspaper: “It (Old Trafford) is a beautiful stadium. But I belong to Bayern Munich and that’s good.”
Though no concrete indication was given, that Kroos neither confirmed nor denied rumours linking him with a switch to Old Trafford represents the latest twist in a transfer saga that stretches back to the previous January transfer window.
His current deal at Bayern extends until 2015, meaning that if Kroos refuses to sign a new deal the German giants have only two windows in which to cash in on him before he is allowed to walk out on a free.
Toni Kroos attempted 91 passes for against Manchester United last night, of which he misplaced only four equating to a pass accuracy rating of 96%. Only Philipp Lahm managed a higher completion rate, with 97%.
