#2 N'Golo Kante
Having just about survived relegation, Leicester City signed unknown quantity Kante from Caen for €8 million. The signing proved to be an absolute bargain as Kante spearheaded Leicester City's once-in-a-lifetime Premier League triumph. Though the likes of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez stole most of the limelight, Kante's sensational showings at the base of the midfield were what gave them the solidity and security at the back.
The Frenchman's tireless and no-nonsense performances in which he won countless tackles and made numerous interceptions to provide the assurance to the defense. He almost possessed an infinite amount of energy as he would charge into player after player without giving the opposition players any time to breathe.
He unsurprisingly earned a big money move to Chelsea next season and his absence was badly felt by 'The Foxes' as they were flirting around the relegation zone for the majority of the season . The Blues though went on to clinch the Premier League title with Kante again the architect of the triumph. This time though his efforts were recognized on a personal front too as he was picked up multiple individual awards viz. 'PFA Player of the Year', 'Premier League Player of the Season' and the 'FWA Footballer of the Year' along with the winner's medal.
