The football World Cup, besides being one of the biggest ever sporting events in the world, is also one of the biggest agglomerations of different cultures for over a month.
People and teams from all over the world come together for the World Cup and it is natural to expect some of the teams to have a few specific requirements to make their stay more comfortable.
However, there have been 10 such requirements from teams travelling to this year’s summer World Cup in Brazil that is just outside the realm of natural!
Here, we take a look at all 10 of them!
1) No sleepless nights for Alexis Sanchez and co :
The Chilean football team have asked for new beds in each of their hotels rooms. Additionally, they have also asked for new flat screen television sets to be installed in each room. Who likes playing FIFA 14 on CRT monitors anyway!
2) Back to being a ‘banana republic’? :
Ecudaor is no longer a banana republic but the football team are still very particular when it comes to the fruit.
The team has asked for a basket with several typical bananas from Ecuador to be made available in each room.
3) Incorporating Jogo Bonito :
The Colombian national team have asked for 15 youngsters from the Sao Paulo team to train with them.
4) Silent air conditioning units :
The Uruguayan team have demanded silent air conditioning in all rooms!
5) Specific TV channels :
The Honduras team have probably decided already that they are going to be spending a heck of a lot of time in their rooms and asked for six Spanish channels to be added to the TV grid in the rooms including two Honduran channels. They have also asked for high speed wireless internet.
Looks like a good Brazilian vacation is in the making!
6) Not getting their hands dirty :
The France football team has asked for liquid soap in all bathrooms, as the players are not used to solid blocks of soap!
Looks like the French do not want any soap operas in their hotel rooms!
7) Keeping tabs on the world :
The Australian football team have asked for a collection of newspapers from around the world to be delivered to them everyday.
8) No chocolates? :
The Switzerland football team have asked for high speed internet and Swiss TV channels in every room.
Do they want to watch Roger Federer in action at Wimbledon?
9) Four pronged protection :
Portugal have asked to bring six of their own bodyguards to Brazil out of which four are expected to exclusively look after Cristiano Ronaldo. And probably his hair care products!
10) Bath-a-taking :
Japan have come up with clearly the craziest request so far asking for their hotel suites to be equipped with a jacuzzi!
