The winter window is now closed and Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City are among those who have spent big. While a few clubs have gone ahead and splashed the money to rescue a dismal situation, there are those who have spent to consolidate their position in their respective leagues.
Alexis Sanchez, Virgil van Dijk, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Theo Walcott are the players who made headlines as they made the move in and around England. Phillippe Coutinho also made a few headlines after he made a massive money move to Barcelona at the beginning of the window.
These transfers across Europe has certainly made this perhaps the most lively window in the history of Winter transfer seasons.
So, we are here with a list of 10 most expensive transfer of this January.
10. Guido Carrillo: Monaco to Southampton, £19.1 m
The 26-year-old Argentine frontman has agreed on a three-and-a-half year deal at St Mary's until 2021 and has expressed his delight at reuniting with Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino with the latter making an attempt to add some firepower to his misfiring front-line.
He was a Ligue 1 title winner alongside Kylian Mbappe and Radamel Falcao at Monaco. Carrillo has made 22 appearances this season but just two of them have been starts in Ligue 1. He scored 20 goals in over 50 appearances for Monaco since signing from Estudiantes in 2015.
9. Theo Walcott: Arsenal to Everton, £20m
Theo Walcott has been in brilliant form since he joined Everton in a cut-price of £20m, on January 17th. The move ends Walcott's 12-year journey at Arsenal, for whom he scored 108 goals in 397 appearances.
The winger scored the first two goals of his Blues career in the first half against Leicester City at Goodison Park. As a result, Sam Allardyce's side claimed all three points with a 2-1 win.
Walcott will be eager to do well against his former club when Arsenal host Everton in Week 26 of the 2017-18 Premier League season. He will also be expected to help 'Big Sam' ensure that the Toffees have a good outing in the latter part of the season.
8. Lucas Moura: Paris Saint-Germain to Tottenham, £25m
Tottenham completed the £25m signing of winger Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain on a five-and-a-half-year deal on the deadline day. Having been linked with several Premier League sides, the Brazil international winger is now set to call Wembley Stadium home.
Lucas made more than 150 appearances for PSG since joining in January 2013, winning four Ligue 1 titles and three Coupe de France trophies. He was a big part of Laurent Blanc's successful PSG side, and last season under Unai Emery he scored 19 goals and set up 11, including a run of seven goals in 12 matches.
He has not featured in this season's Champions League for PSG and is therefore available for Spurs in the knockout stage. It is quite clear that Spurs will be adding quality to their ranks in the form of this winger.
7. Cenk Tosun: Besiktas to Everton, £27m
Sam Allardyce had seemingly identified the need to bring a goalscorer into his side upon witnessing his team's performance this season. The Everton boss eventually bridged the gap by completing the signing of Turkey striker Cenk Tosun from Besiktas at a price of £27m for a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The Gabon international comes as a key signing for Arsene Wenger, especially after the sale of Olivier Giroud to Chelsea and Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United.
Aubameyang scored 141 goals in 213 games for Dortmund, including 21 in 24 matches this season. Even though Aubameyang has not played in the Europa League this season, he cannot play for Arsenal in it because his former club, Dortmund is now in the same European competition.

He remains to be the most highly-priced defender in the world after breaking the previous record set by Chelsea defender David Luiz.
1. Philippe Coutinho: Liverpool to Barcelona, £106m
