Patrick Kuivert, one of the greats of European football is number four on this list with one very memorable Championship under his belt. Despite his steady rise to fame for the Dutch national side, he missed out on a major part of Euro 1996 because of an injury and scored just one goal when he was given the chance to play in a match against England.
Euro 2000 was really the jewel in Kluivert’s proverbial crown. He scored five goals in five matches and was the joint winner of the Golden Boot that year with Savo Milosevic. His finest hour came when he scored a hat-trick against Yugoslavia in the quarter-final.
Although he continued to wear the no. 9 shirt in Euro 2004, he was unable to net the ball even once.
