This spot was for either Marco Asensio or Sergio Ramos. But I’d go with the captain. He has certainly started the season well and taken on his shoulders the penalty duties for the season. So far the former Sevilla defender has scored three goals with all of them coming from the spot.
His long balls from the back have been a lovely sight, and his accuracy does not cast any doubt whatsoever. Defensively, he has been a thorn in the opposition’s side and also stood out against Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup a month ago. Yet a string of individual mistakes meant that his team had to settle for a silver medal.
