Last game week belonged to the budget midfielders as many premium mids flopped.
We think that this might be the case for this game week as well with Liverpool and Tottenham clashing against each other.
We look at the 5 best budget midfield(<6) options for this game week.
#5. Fernandinho(Manchester City- £5.1)
Manchester City have played some really good football this season and have scored 28 goals from just 8 games this season.
It's usually a bad policy to double up on the same team's midfield but Manchester City scored more goals than all the other 'top 6' teams combined last game week.
Fernandinho has been trying shots from outside the box a lot these past few games and luckily for him, one of them went in against Stoke City. He'll surely gain confidence from that and might just score again (which is improbable but not impossible.).
With a price of just £5.1, he's surely looking like an attractive option but his positioning on the field is a disadvantage and as a result, he's not higher up in the rankings for this game week.
#4. Jese(Stoke City- £5.8)
Stoke City have had a tough run of fixtures and injuries to key defenders hasn't helped their cause either but they'll surely look to make the most of the good run of fixtures which sees them take on Bournemouth, Watford, Leicester, Brighton and Crystal Palace in the next 5 game weeks.
Jese is listed as a midfielder in FPL but plays as a forward for Stoke City and with some good players like Shaqiri playing behind him, he's surely going to get a lot of chances to score in these 5 fixtures.
At 5.8, we feel he's a steal cause he's basically a very good striker who's going to get an extra one point every now and then for clean sheets.
#3. Alex Iwobi (Arsenal- £5.1)
Arsenal will be looking to prove the haters wrong with a fine away performance and Iwobi will surely play an important role in the match against Everton with Ozil looking awful in the last match and Welbeck not yet ready after his injury last month.
The reason Iwobi is listed at such a cheap price is that Ozil and Sanchez were the favourites to take the two positions just behind the striker but with the ongoing contract issues and injury problems, Iwobi got a chance in the side and he's done well to make his case for starting ahead of Ozil.
He is a risk but if he starts performing consistently then he's going to be a great differential in the upcoming weeks.
#2. Christian Atsu (Newcastle United- £5.1)
Newcastle looks like a very well balanced team and they have got so many great budget options that it's hard to only choose three of their players in one's FPL team.
We are going to go with Atsu as our budget midfield pick from Newcastle for the upcoming weeks as he's got the pace and directness in his play which makes him a goal/assist threat.
Just like some other Newcastle players, he's underpriced and will give great point value per million spent.
#1. Pascal Gross (Brighton- £5.7)
Brighton have a great set of fixtures lined up and they will surely look to get back to winning ways after a disappointing result against Everton.
Gross has been one of the best midfielders outside the top 6 teams this season and will look to work his magic around an inconsistent West Ham team that will be without Andy Carroll.
With Hemed set to return next game week after serving his 3 game ban, it will increase Gross's influence and we think that he's the best bet going forward.
