4. Ryan Bertrand
Bertrand belongs to a breed of players who belonged to Chelsea but is now flourishing elsewhere. Considered one of the best young players at Chelsea having joined initially from Gillingham, he went out on loans to many teams in the lower divisions before making his debut for Chelsea.
He never got a consistent run in the first team and he finally left the club for Southampton where he has evolved into an England regular. He is considered to be one of the most consistent players in the league and considering Southampton's other woes, that is a real blessing.
He won a PFA team of the year spot in 2015 and has made 79 appearances for the Saints since his £10 million move from Chelsea. Bertrand's strength is that he operates both as an orthodox fullback and is also capable of running down the left flank in a more attacking role.
