It is controversial to have Alonso at the top of the Left Back standings, much like the decision to bring the ex-Bolton man to Stamford Bridge last season. Alonso has been sensational in his left wing back role at Chelsea, creating chances and providing a marauding dynamism that keeps the opposition at bay.
The Real Madrid Academy product has scored 8 goals in 38 appearances since joining the club and has impressed critics and fans alike.
While Alonso has to prove he can replicate his exploits from last season, he still is the best in the left-back role in the league right now on form and end product alone, with players like Benjamin Mendy yet to create a name for themselves.
