#4 Karim Benzema
A rather shocking inclusion given how much scorn the Frenchman has received. It is a testament to how poorly Real Madrid's players have performed as a whole, such that Benzema's addition is pretty much a case of being the best of a bad bunch.
The Frenchman has been the subject of much criticism in recent years owing to his low goals returns and with the departure of Ronaldo, it was expected that he would be solid.
That, however, did not happen and Benzema started the season like a house on fire, scoring five goals in his first four matches to silence his critics. However, from then on, it all went downhill as he fell back into old habits and went on an 11-game scoreless run which coincided with Real Madrid's run of over eight hours without a goal.
Things improved for him alongside the club upon Solari's appointment and he has been on a fairly decent run of form since then, including scoring a brace in the 0-5 demolition of Victoria Plzen in the UCL.
In 26 matches in all competitions this season, Benzema has scored 11 goals and while those are not exactly world-class numbers, considering how poorly Real Madrid as a whole have been this season, it is enough to rank him among the club's top performers.
