#3 Manchester United - 16
Manchester United started the season strongly, winning four of their first five league matches. But they have fallen down the Premier League table, having won just one of their last five matches. Though their last match in the league was a comfortable 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, United are still some way off the track.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has struggled to find the right balance and is largely to blame for the team's performances. However, the players haven't quite risen to the occasion either, with most of them woefully out of form. They have also missed 16 big chances in the league this season, which has further blocked their path up the table.
Paul Pogba has been the biggest culprit for them, missing four chances. Cristiano Ronaldo follows Pogba closely on the list with three big chances missed. Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial have squandered two big opportunities each.
#2 Manchester City - 16
Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side were expected to stay toe to toe with Chelsea in this season's Premier League title race. However, the defending champions suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat in their most recent league match, against Crystal Palace. This has left them third in the table, five points behind league leaders Chelsea and two points behind Liverpool, who are second.
While City have been strong defensively, they haven't been at their attacking best this season. Part of that could be attributed to their disappointing finishing as they have missed 16 big chances in the league already this season.
Manchester City next face arch-rivals Manchester United in the Premier League. The two sides will face off at Old Trafford on Saturday, November 6.
#1 Liverpool - 18
Leading the list of teams to have missed the most big chances in the Premier League are Liverpool, who have been guilty of missing 18 big opportunities. But that perhaps doesn't tell the whole story.
The Reds have been the best attacking side in the league so far, scoring 29 goals, three more than league leaders Chelsea. They have also created the most big chances with 34, nine more than Manchester City, who have created the second-most big chances at 23.
Jurgen Klopp's side's imperious form has them placed second in the Premier League table, three points behind Chelsea. Should Liverpool continue to perform in a similar vein, we have a potentially interesting title race on our hands.
Mohamed Salah has missed the joint-most big chances in the league with five.
