Mario Gotze completed a move back to his former club for €26m and is expected to partner Marco Reus in midfield. Gotze hardly got game time during his Bayern days and therefore opted to return to his former club Dortmund. He was an exceptional player in his first spell at Dortmund and will look to repeat the same performances in his second spell at the club.

Dortmund also roped in Ousmane Dembele from Rennes. The French star cost €15m and is a good prospect for the future. Another big transfer that Dortund completed was that of former Chelsea player André Schürrle for €30m. Schürrle is a goal-scoring winger who forms a deadly trio on paper with midfielders Reus and Gotze, and the excellent finishing qualities of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
