#3 Romelu Lukaku, Inter Milan (14 goals, 1615 minutes played)
In at number three is none other than Romelu Lukaku. Given the harsh criticism the Belgian experienced during his time at Manchester United, some mocked Inter Milan for purchasing the striker during the summer transfer window.
However, he has proved all his doubters wrong and has been brilliant in front of goal and has unquestionably been Inter Milan's greatest attacking threat. Lukaku has netted 14 goals in 19 appearances in the Serie A, including four in his last three outings.
#2 Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus (14 goals, 1405 minutes played)
At the start of the season, things looked pretty bleak for Ronaldo. He looked slow, tired, frustrated, and below-par. It was later discovered that he was dealing with an injury during this period.
However, since the start of December, Ronaldo seems to have returned to his brilliant best and has finally become a contender for the Golden Boot. He has thus far scored 14 goals, with nine of those coming in just his last six games.
His goalscoring rate since December has been higher than anyone else in the top 5 European leagues, and he just cannot stop finding the back of the net at the moment. While he is currently six goals behind Ciro Immobile, this was partly due to his injury-ridden start to the season.
Since the beginning of December, Ronaldo's goal-to-game ratio has been 1.5 goals. If Ronaldo continues this form he has a good chance of pipping Immobile to Golden Boot.
#1 Ciro Immobile, Lazio (20 goals, 1472 minutes played)
In at number one is the Ciro Immobile, who is currently enjoying the best start to his career, with an incredible 20 goals in just 18 league appearances. Not only is he leading the Serie A's Golden Boot race, he is also at number one spot in the European Golden Shoe race.
Immobile's strongest period this season was between 29th September to 1st December, with the Italian scoring 13 goals in just nine games in that time.
He has scored three goals in his last four games, which has been good enough to keep some distance between himself and the rest of his competition.
