The Frenchman, who was linked to the Magpies a year earlier before moving to QPR instead, has hit the floor running with three goals in four games already.
The 26-year-old has already sharpened a blunted Newcastle attack, and along with countryman Hatem Ben Arfa, could prove to be the difference between a mid-table finish or another relegation battle.
