Tottenham Confirm Wilson Palacios Departure To Stoke City As Transfer Deadline Draws Near

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that out-of-favor midfielder Wilson Palacios will join Stoke City on a permanent transfer.

A statement on Tottenham’s website read:

“The Club can announce that it has reached agreement with Stoke City for the permanent transfer of Wilson Palacios.

The Honduras international midfielder joined us from Wigan Athletic in January, 2009 and went on to make 85 appearances, scoring once. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Within a gap of few seconds, Stoke City released a statement welcoming the 27 year old to Britannia Stadium. Palacios has signed for an undisclosed fee a four year contract with the club.

Manager Tony Pulis expressed his delight on signing the Honduran:

“This is a fantastic deal for the Football Club because Wilson has proved himself to be a top class performer at the highest level. He has a considerable amount of international experience and played a prominent part in getting Tottenham into the Champions League only two years ago.”

Stoke City have been strengthening their squad all summer ahead of their Europa League season. Tony Pulis’ side is expected to make at least a couple more signings before the transfer window shuts in about an hour’s time, with Cameron Jerome and Peter Crouch being heavily linked with the Potters.
