You cannot refute the fact that AVB is a good manager. This is especially so after his stint with FC Porto. However, he flopped at Chelsea, and you bet they did have a good reason to show him the door. But for Tottenham to take him in at the expense of Harry Redknapp, that must be utter madness.
I have never really been a fan of Redknapp, especially since he made his Spurs side into a force to reckon, in the process driving up the value of Gareth Bale, making it hard for my team to sign him, but then again, that’s utter bullocks. More like an unhappy fan ranting about an own goal. That aside, Harry was a good manager, and he deserved more than to be kicked out of Spurs. As a matter of fact, you can bet we will witness the beginning of the end for Spurs, and I would be shocked if they are to battle for top honors this season. To be exact, I see Spurs challenging for Europa spot, while top spot will be for Manchester, Chelsea and Arsenal, the usual suspects, though Arsenal might falter a bit.

So, back to AVB. Another string of unpleasant results; does that sound familiar? Oh, yes it does, and it cost him his job not so far away on the other side of London. A loss to Newcastle, followed by a draw with West Brom, not exactly the kind of results that boosts morale. Why they are still holding on to Modric, only God knows. My take, sell him out on the expensive, use the money to cash in on the likes of Manchester United’s overfed Anderson on the cheap, or raid Arsenal for Theo Walcott. After all, Arsenal seems to have become a selling club, right?
AVB, you really got a long way to go, especially with a team made up of Gareth Bale, Assou-Ekotto and Aaron Lennon. The results so far show nothing to write home about, and for the sake of his job, that needs to change. Especially when you consider the fact that Tottenham are not playing in the Champions League just because Chelsea were nifty enough to win the trophy, they should be playing with a lot of verve to prove a point that they are European elite material.
