Tottenham Transfer News: Why is Souleymane Coulibaly a Good Signing?

Souleymane Coulibaly

Tottenham Hotspur have done it again. They have brought in another young talent in yet another transfer window.

This time its Souleymane Coulibaly, the 16 year old Ivory Coast International. Coulibaly has already been dubbed as the “next Drogba” for Ivory Coast. Coulibaly won the Golden Boot in the recently concluded U-17 World Cup. He was the top scorer with nine goals in just four games. His tally included a hattrick against Brazil and four against Denmark. Against Brazil, the striker scored a overhead kick and a thumping left foot drive in the sort of fashion Spurs have seen from Jermaine Defoe in the past. The striker showed his right foot was equally potent by scoring from angles that would leave even Pythagoras confused.

The youth talent rolling out of Spurs is virtually non-existent, with Jamie O’Hara being the only Spurs player in last ten years to establish himself in the Premier league (the jury is still out on Danny Rose). The likes of John Bostock, Adel Taarabt and Giovani Dos Santos are fine examples of how a talent can go unfulfilled at White Hart Lane.

Taarabat joined in 2007 but had drop down to Championship with Queens Park Rangers before he could show his talent. Bostock and Dos Santos hardly got a sniff of first team action.

Coulibaly has good opportunity in front of him to grab his first team spot in near future with all four of Tottenham’s strikers a mixture of being out-of-form or out-of-favour. Along with signing of Barcelona teenager Cristian Ceballos, Redknapp is showing signs of trying to revive a youth academy that has been stale over the last decade. Ceballos and especially Coulibaly will become guinea pigs for the youth set up at the lane. Along with club fans, rivals and future youth stars will watch very closely to see just how well Spurs can develop the potential stars at their disposal. They can’t keep getting it wrong.

Point #1: Pacy,Skilful and Physical strikers will be able to cope up with the Barclays Premier League

Ivorian strikers are often too physical and pacy. They can be very good to the English league with their strong shot power and strength and speed to get pas defenders. Didier Drogba the Chelsea striker is a perfect example of it. Coulibaly skills can be very significant to Tottenham because those skills can provide goals and assists for Tottenham.

Point #2: He can play well as a lone striker

Tottenham Hotspur play with a 4-4-1-1 formation. Hence, they need a striker who can play lone ahead of Rafael Van Der Vaart. Coulibaly is very good in his heading as well which headers can be provided by the two pacy Spurs wingers Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale. Hence with services of Luka Modric, Rafael van Der Vaart, Aaron Lennon, Gareth Bale and Tom Huddlestone he can be a 20-goal season striker which Tottenham need to get back into the Uefa Champions League.

Point #3: Positive Attitude

Soleymane Coulibaly is a young boy with a very good positive attitude which could improve the mood a lot in the dressing room. He is a very cool customer maybe the write guy who Tottenham need.

He’s young but worth a shot! Whats your opinion?
