From being a pint-sized prodigy growing up in the streets of Buenos Aires to being an idol, loved at Rome, Lamela certainly has come a long way. But, right throughout his career, his pace and close control was there for all to see.

Roma fans might have grown a little impatient about his excessive ball hogging, but his 99 dribbles in Serie A last year, certainly showed that when he had it, there was excitement in the air. For what it’s worth, Bale only had 59 in the Premier League. And although he is predominantly a No.10, his versatility means that he is equally adept whilst on the wings, where he was deployed in Roma.
