Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane says Chelsea celebrated their 2-2 stalemate with Spurs as if they had won the English Premier League (EPL) and not Leicester City.

The result on Monday night at Stamford Bridge ended Tottenham's race for the title and Leicester were crowned as the new champions of English football. With only two rounds of games to go, Leicester have a seven-point lead at the top over second-placed Tottenham. Chelsea are in the ninth spot.

Kane scored the first for Tottenham and then Son Heung-min doubled the lead for his side just before half-time. However, they squandered their two-goal cushion after the restart as Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard netted for the Blues. The result drove the Chelsea players and supporters into a frenzy.

"When the ex-champions are celebrating like they won the league at the end, it shows that we're doing something right," Kane was quoted as saying by espnfc.com.

"We've just got to keep doing what we're doing. We've got a great bunch of lads, a great manager, great staff and we've just got to keep that and keep moving forward."

Tottenham, who now have to settle for the second spot, were hoping to win their first EPL trophy since 1961 and though it left Kane disappointed he chose to congratulate Claudio Ranieri's men.

"We're gutted. We've had a great season. Credit to Leicester. Well done to them for winning the league. They've been fantastic this season," the 22-year-old said.

"We done all we could, we fought until the end, but it's something we've got to learn from.

"I'm proud of everyone, I'm proud of the club and we've just got to keep moving in the right direction, finish the season off well now and look forward to next season," concluded the English international.
