Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur are poised to sign Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue for £8.6million.
Toulouse president Olivier Sadran was quoted by L’Equipe as stating “he will go there (Tottenham)” when asked about the move.
The France international has been subjected to offers from Cardiff City and Atletico Madrid but Tottenham now seem the firm favourites to sign the 6ft 2inch Capoue defensive midfielder. Capoue is know to be extremely versatile and can also be used as a formidable centre-back.
With injuries to Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul, Spurs are defensively weak and need reinforcements at the earliest. The move also casts doubts about Scott Parker’s future in North London, with the England international linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers.
