The Spanish international has played 274 league games for the Red Devils thus far and has helped the club win one Premier League trophy, one Europa League title, one FA Cup along with one EFL Cup.
However, the 28-year-old has shown his desire to leave the club a number of times in the last few years but the Red Devils have been too reluctant to let their star player leave.
Nevertheless, his current contract with the club will expire at the end of next season and the Manchester-based club could unwillingly cash in on the player during the summer months as opposed to letting him leave on a free transfer next year.
