Atletico Madrid close in on Diego Costa

The estranged Chelsea striker, Diego Costa might finally get his way with Marca reporting that Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are close in their negotiations for the Spaniard. The reported fee is close to £50 million which is what Chelsea were demanding for the 28-year-old. Atletico had sent a delegation to London earlier this week in order to put an end to this far stretched transfer saga. But Costa will not get to appear for the Colchoneros until January when the club's transfer ban is lifted.

Virgil van Dijk makes his return for Southampton U23s

After a long drawn transfer battle which saw the club and the player at loggerheads, Virgil van Dijk has returned to first team training and yesterday played his first competitive match in over three months. He played the full 90 minutes in Southampton U23's 4-0 loss to Aston Villa at Walsall's Bescot Stadium. Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino is keen on integrating the centre-back as soon as possible with the Saints currently struggling under their new manager.
