Mikel Merino makes his move to Newcastle United a permanent one
The Magpies have exercised an option in Merino's loan deal to make his loan move from Borussia Dortmund a permanent one with immediate effect. Merino joined Newcastle in July and has now penned a five year deal with the Geordie club until 2022.
Merino was ecstatic after finalizing his move and told NUTV, “I’m really happy to be here, and for this part of the contract to finally be official. I’m happy to be here for five more years and I hope to keep playing for this club and to give good things to all the people and the club."
Arturo Vidal reverses retirement decision
After a dismal qualifying campaign ended with Chile being out of the race for the 2018 World Cup, Arturo Vidal had called it a day with the international side. But the midfielder has now backtracked from his decision by revealing that he will be up for selection whenever the team demands.
In a quick U-turn, Vidal said, "Chile is a team of warriors, I feel proud to belong to this squad. And I will not abandon them. We will go together to the end. Every time I am called I will be available for my national team. Our national team."
