In a surprising turn of events, Liverpool's prime target Virgil Van Dijk has handed in a transfer request to Southampton to let him leave this summer. The Dutchman is adamant on joining Liverpool this season with the Reds now preparing a new bid for the central defender. The Daily Express reports that Liverpool will bid around £65 million for Van Dijk which is expected to be enough to ensure Southampton let go of him.

Mesut Ozil to sign a new contract soon

Sky Sports has reported that Arsenal are close to announcing a contract extension for one of their superstars, Mesut Ozil. The German had just a year left on his contract and was holding out for a bigger pay day. In a new lucrative deal offered by the Gunners, Ozil will receive £280,000 per week, with the club hoping to finalise the deal by the end of next week.
