Newcastle close to signing Benfica midfielder

The Magpies have reached the final stages of negotiations for Benfica midfielder, Andrea Samaris. The Greek international was a target for Sunderland and Everton but Newcastle have beaten their rivals to the signing of the 28-year-old. O Jogo reports that Samaris will sign a four-year deal at St. James' Park and will earn around £40,000 per week. Benfica are demanding around £18 million for the box-to-box midfielder.
