Messi will continue to wear the Blaugrana shirt for the near future

- Undoubtedly the biggest news of the day is that Lionel Messi has renewed his contract with Barcelona. The Argentine wizard will earn an astronomical €500,000-a-week salary in addition to a €50 million signing-on bonus in a contract that will keep him at the club until 2021. Barcelona have also reportedly set a €300 million release clause.

- Real Madrid have rejected an €81m bid for Alvaro Morata from Manchester United, according to Goal. The Champions League winners are holding out for a fee of €90m, with United boss Jose Mourinho desperate to sign the Spanish striker.

- Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Theo Hernandez from Atletico Madrid for a reported fee of €26-30m. The left-back has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at club till 2023.
