Liverpool have announced the signing of Sadio Mane on a five-year deal, and their neighbours Everton are ready to spend some big money in the transfer market.
Here are the football transfer news and rumours from June 28th.
Serie A
- Juventus are looking for a replacement of Alvaro Morata, which means the Italian media will now link them to every financially unrealistic option until they actually sign a replacement. According to Tuttosport, Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is intrigued by the idea of returning to Italy. His agent, Fernando Felicevich is reportedly in constant contact with Juventus, but the financial terms of the deal could be a problem.
Tuttosport say Juventus and Sanchez like each other, but need the consent of Arsene Wenger for the wedding. Well, that’s one way to put it.
- Napoli are keen on signing Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski this summer, but supposedly their efforts have gone in vain, as the player is reportedly keen on signing for Liverpool. Napoli are ready to renew their efforts to sign Zielinski, and could offer as much as €13m plus €2m in bonuses and Juan Zuniga.
Liverpool are also expected to accelerate their efforts to sign Zielinski, but for some reason they’ve been stalling the deal till now.
- According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Tottenham star Erik Lamela is a transfer target for Inter. The Serie A club have been long-term admirers of the Argentine international, and the club’s vice-president, Javier Zanetti, had scouted him during the Copa America.
English Premier League
- Manchester United are getting closer to signing Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Borussia Dortmund’s CEO, Hanz-Joachim Watzke, has admitted to German media outlet Der Westen that Manchester United have made a ‘significantly improved offer’, and that they’d evaluate the offer this weekend. It is reported Manchester United have made an offer of £33.1m for the player.
- Reports in the Dutch media claim Everton are interested in signing Morgan Schneiderlin. According to De Telegraaf, Schneiderlin is very much open to the idea of a reunion with Koeman at Everton. The Dutch manager has a huge transfer kitty to spend this summer, and financially any deal shouldn’t be a problem.
- It’s no secret that Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan is a transfer target for Chelsea, but the Premier League side have found no luck till now. The player is keen on staying at AS Roma, and that has made things even more difficult for Chelsea.
Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claim Chelsea still have a small chance of signing Nainggolan this summer should they further increase their offer. Chelsea had reportedly last submitted a bid of €37m, which was rejected by the Serie A club.
- Liverpool, today, announced the signing of Sadio Mane for £34m from Southampton. Mane told Liverpoolfc.com: “Today is a big day and I am very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe.” The Senegalese forward also revealed he was tempted by the prospect of playing under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
La Liga
- Tottenham and Barcelona are interested in signing AS Roma ace Tony Sanabria, but it seems the Catalan giants have told the player he is not a priority for them. Spanish website Sport claim Tottenham officials are in Barcelona to hold negotiations with Sanabria’s representatives, and a deal is at an advanced stage.
The player could cost Tottenham something in between €15m-€20m. Sanabria spent the last season on loan at Sporting Gijon scoring 11 goals, and is a product of La Masia.
- According to OKdiario in Spain, Real Madrid star James Rodriguez has put up his apartment for rent in Madrid. The Colombian star is certain to leave the La Liga giants this summer and wants around €15,000-a-month for his house. Next, there might be rumours of him buying a house in Manchester.
- El Confidencial in Spain claim Manchester United are still keen on signing French star Antoine Griezmann, despite him signing a new contract. It is suggested both the parties agreed to a contract renewal so that they could demand a bigger transfer fee from the Premier League giants this summer.
Rest of Europe
- Ligue 1 giants Marseille are interested in signing Swansea star Bafetimbi Gomis, reports L’Equipe. Marseille are reportedly interested in signing the player on loan, but could face competition from Sunderland, who have also made an offer for the player.
- Marseille skipper Steve Mandanda could be leaving the club this summer, after Crystal Palace agreed to a fee of €3m with the Ligue 1 club, according to L’Equipe. The 31-year-old has also been linked to Everton, but who can stop Alan Pardew from signing players from France?
- According to Gazzetta Mercato, FC Sion defender Leo Lacroix is a transfer target for Everton and Stoke City this summer. The 24-year-old could cost as much as €7m, and is also generating interest from AC Milan.
