Although international football is well and truly underway, club sides are focussed on strengthening their own teams with plenty of big names being linked to top clubs across Europe. Some major moves are sure to happen this transfer window with global giants like Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona fighting it out for the best talent.
We bring you the biggest transfer news and rumours of the football world:
Serie A
- In some interesting AC Milan news, former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is set to earn a whopping £4.7million-a-year if he becomes their new manager according to the Daily Mail.
- Torino have opened talks with highly-rated Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah. The young player spent last season on loan at Napoli but after failing to impress, Torino look the favourites to sign the under 21 England midfielder.
- The Pjanic deal is very close to completion with both the clubs revealing that the player himself pushed for a move to Juventus. Juventus are not resting on Pjanic’s signing though and they are also looking to sign Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia according to SBNation.
- Inter Milan have been linked with Yaya Toure for a long time now and they are now deciding between the Manchester City midfielder and Gabriel Jesus as they only have one non-EU player slot left.
English Premier League
- We will start off with the big one. Manchester United are said to be very interested in Leicester City’s N’golo Kante. The Premier League winner has been linked to plenty of top clubs across Europe, but Jose Mourinho is set to beat competition and sign the Leicester City midfielder according to Metro. Manchester United are also in the race to sign Basel’s young striker Breel Embolo according to 20minuten.
- Liverpool are looking for a full-back and reports from the Sunday People are now suggesting that Klopp wants Argentina defender Gabriel Mercado. Liverpool are also prepared to fight Porto and Napoli for Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera according to Giancula DiMarzio.
- According to the Express, Arsene Wenger is set to turn his attention to Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani if Arsenal’s move for Jamie Vardy breaks down.
- Tottenham are set to sign Southampton’s Victor Wanyama with further talks with the Saints scheduled. Also, Everton are planning an audacious move for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel according to the Daily Star.
La Liga
- According to various reports in SportsMole, Manchester United are set to break the bank to sign Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale in a shocking €120m move. Gareth Bale has been coveted by Manchester United for a long time and there are reports that Mourinho might finally convince the Welshman to move back to the Premier League.
- Sticking with Real Madrid, Zidane is said to be very interested in signing Paul Pogba with reports from SkySports suggesting that he is ready to trade in Toni Kroos and part with a stunning €90m for the talented French midfielder.
- Valencia’ Andre Gomes has been turning heads with his wonderful performances this season and it was reported that Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United were the favourites to sign this Portuguese youngster. However, recent reports from Mundo Deportivo, have emerged claiming that Barcelona are now interested in securing the midfielder’s services.
- Barcelona have also been linked with young Southampton right-back Cedric Soares with the player himself confirming his interest to play for the Catalan giants.
- According to fresh reports on Sportsmole UK, Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte is close to signing a deal with Manchester City ahead of the upcoming season. The Frenchman’s contract is set to expire only by 2019, but a £39m buyout clause is included which could see the player move to the blue side of Manchester this summer.
Rest of Europe
- Mario Gotze is set to leave Bayern Munich with president Karl-Heinz Rumminege not too keen on keeping the German attacking midfielder according to SBNation. Liverpool remain interested in the talented playmaker. Reports also claimed that Robert Lewandowski and David Alaba were definitely not for sale this season.
- Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan is apparently being sought out by Manchester United, according to Daily Mail. The player would boost United’s chance at the title this season as he is rated as one of the best players of Bundesliga and had the most assists in the league this season.
- PSG have a battle on their hands to keep Marco Verrati with teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea interested in securing his services.
