Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's Daily Transfer Roundup. January is less than a month and a half away and various clubs across the world are drawing up plans to make the best use of this winter transfer window.
The last winter transfer window saw the record for the world's most expensive defender being broken as Virgil Van Dijk joined Liverpool for £75 million. And in this result-oriented world of football, it's difficult to predict what's going to happen.
With that being said, let's take a look at the top transfer stories and rumours from around the globe on 17th November 2018.
Liverpool could agree to buy Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona
According to Daily Mail, Barcelona are open to selling youngster Ousmane Dembele and Liverpool are most likely to rope him in. The Frenchman joined Barcelona on a whopping £96 million deal. But his debut season was interrupted by an injury.
Dembele has shown his class but his off-field antics have often invoked the ire of the management. Barcelona have already paid £4.5m when the 21-year-old clocked 25 appearances and then paid a further £4.5m when the Cules qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the 2018-19 season.
Barcelona have to pay £26 million more by the time Dembele completes 100 appearances for them. Hence, they are open to the idea of selling him in the middle of the season if the potential buyers are ready to fork out a sum in the ballpark of the initial amount that La Blaugrana spent to buy him.
Dembele's tardiness has become a cause for concern as far as the club management is concerned. He refused to answer his phone and gave the excuse that it had ran out of battery when he didn't show up for training as he was apparently recuperating from a stomach problem.
However, French team coach Didier Deschamps has also said that being late is quite habitual for Ousmane Dembele.
Manchester United to make a move for Brazilian striker Everton Soares
According to ESPN, Manchester United may be looking to address their goalscoring concerns in January. The report states that Manchester United's scouts have been watching Gremio striker Soares.
The 22-year-old can play down the left flank as well as the right flank in addition to playing down the centre. United will do well to pull off the transfer though as the striker had signed a new contract in January that pins him to the club till 2022.
His release clause stands at €60 million. The Brazilian has already broke into the international team and made his debut against the United States of America recently, as a second-half substitute.
Chelsea close in on Christian Pulisic as his contract talks stall
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly acclimatizing themselves to the idea of cashing in on the United States youngster after his contract negotiations have hit a brick wall, as per Daily Mail.
The Blues have been linked with Pulisic for a very long time and have reportedly outpaced everyone in their attempts to get his signature. Pulisic has seen his importance fade as Jadon Sancho has been preferred over him as of late.
Dortmund have priced the youngster at £70 million but that might reduce as Pulisic holds out on signing a new contract at the German club.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly interested in the player but Daily Mail's report suggests that Chelsea are now favourites to sign him.
Barcelona decide to pursue Frenkie De Jong instead of Paul Pogba
The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Barcelona for quite a while now and with speculations reaching a fever-pitch, reports from the Spanish media with Mundo Deportivo (via Daily Mail) in particular, claim that Barcelona have decided to pursue Ajax wonderkid Frenkie De Jong to bolster their midfield.
As per the report, Barcelona are willing to pay £100m to sign the 21-year-old.
Pep Segura in a recent radio interview with Cadena SER said,
"Pogba or De Jong? In general, we will always need players like De Jong because this is the profile we want, but we have always had players whose characteristics are not as faithful as those requested by the club, as with Seydou Keita who provided the balance needed to meet the challenges,"
"And the big competitions, like the Champions League, claim every time players of different profiles."
Manchester City are the other big team that's been credited with an interest in the youngster.
Radamel Falcao offers himself to Real Madrid
Radamel Falcao, one of the best strikers in the world in his prime, has now offered himself to Real Madrid, as per Marca (via Express). Falcao, who is currently at AS Monaco, is struggling just like his side that is languishing at a shocking 19th place on the Ligue 1 table after 13 games.
Real Madrid are going through quite a lean patch themselves and with Karim Benzema struggling in front of goal, they are in desperate need of a hitman up front and Falcao could very well prove to be a temporary solution.
Falcao is no stranger to the LaLiga and has served Atletico Madrid gloriously in his younger days. He was, in fact, linked with a move to Los Blancos at the time. However, a knee injury altered his career path significantly and he ended up playing in the Premier League where he had a dismal spell at Manchester United and Chelsea.
