Unai Emery confirms he talked to Mustafi about leaving

Unai Emery will be happy with the transfer window that Arsenal have had

After impressing initially, Shkodran Mustafi has struggled and is hardly a 'fan-favourite' at the Emirates these days. With Arsenal's defensive problems becoming the major source of concern for Unai Emery, the fans expected Mustafi to be shown the door during the summer.

Arsenal have signed David Luiz from Chelsea as a stopgap but Mustafi continues to be at the club. Laurent Koscielny left Arsenal for Bordeaux and thus, there is every chance that the fans will see Mustafi play quite a lot this season.

Emery admitted that he is open to letting the German leave and that he has already talked about it with the player. He said,

"I spoke with him when we finished last season. I spoke with him when we started pre-season and I spoke with him also two weeks ago saying maybe there was the possibility he can leave.

"But I don't have doubts if he needs to play because he is a good player."
