The Sporting Lisbon captain was in staggering form in the recently concluded 2018-19 season. He scored a whopping 32 goals and racked in a further 18 assists across all competitions for the Portuguese side.

With Tottenham, Liverpool and Inter Milan keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, Manchester United had to go all in to have a shot at signing Fernandes and they seem to have done just that.

Balzano Prota revealed the information on Twitter. He tweeted,

“Various clubs seem interested in the player, but for now Man Utd is very close to signing him.”
