Real Madrid to trigger Rodrigo Hernandez's release clause
Real Madrid seem to be scampering around looking to seal quite a few huge deals before their rivals can. The latest addition to that list is Atletico Madrid's Rodrigo Hernandez, more popularly known as Rodri. Florentino Perez is all set to trigger Rodri's €70 million release clause and secure his services this summer.
The Spanish international is a key cog in Diego Simeone's system and El Cholo will try his best to make sure the 22-year-old stays put.
Since joining from Valencia in the summer of 2018 for a sum of €25 million, Rodri has had no trouble fitting in at Atleti and has impressed with his consistent performances. At 22 years of age, the youngster already has great pace, discipline and fast movements which make him a stalwart in defensive midfield.
Sergio Busquets' waning influence in midfield is a cause of concern to the Cules. As such, Ernesto Valverde had earmarked Rodri as a potential replacement for the ageing Spaniard. However, it looks like Real Madrid are set to put one over on their arch rivals.
