#2 Real Madrid to trigger Betis left-back's release clause
Real Madrid are keen to reshape their squad, as several of their star players are almost past their prime, and are targetting several young stars. Los Blancos have now been linked with the signing of Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo, as per AS.
Firpo, who was born in the Dominican Republic but has represented Spain's U-21 team, has a release clause of €50 million in his Betis contract, which he signed in August earlier this year for a period of 5 years.
The lanky left-back made his La Liga debut earlier this year and has progressed quickly at Betis. Firpo could be a backup for Real Madrid stalwart Marcelo, and the 22-year-old has potential to one day replace the Brazilian left-back.
Recent reports have also stated that Marcelo could follow Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus in the summer.
