The turnaround at Manchester United continues with Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure and reports suggesting Wayne Rooney could be on his way to Munich.
It’s time for a change in the Old Trafford dug out. The club confirmed on Wednesday morning that Sir Alex Ferguson has decided to retire at the end of the season. The 71-year-old Scot has been managing the club for more than 26 years, winning 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies.
Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney has been linked with a move to German champions Bayern Munich this summer. The English striker has been overshadowed this season by the arrival of former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie. Rooney has netted only 13 league goals this season, nine less than Persie’s 22.
According to the Daily Mirror, Wayne Rooney has reportedly told his team-mates he wants to sign for Bayern Munich this summer. Rooney has constantly been linked to a move away from Old Trafford due to his ever increasing frustration with his role at the club.
Reports even suggest Bayern are close to sealing a £30 million deal for the Manchester United striker. With Mario Gomez’s reported departure in the summer, Pep Guardiola will be looking ahead to sign a quality striker for the Champions League finalists. Apparently, Rooney is thought to be flattered at being linked with the mighty Bayern side and by the prospect of working under the former Barcelona boss.
The 27-year-old striker has also been on the radar of Paris Saint Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti for quite some time.
