Valencia are reportedly set to sign Chelsea’s Demba Ba in the winter transfer window. The out of favour Chelsea striker is reported to cost the spanish side around £7 m.
The 27 year old hitman joined the Blues last January for an undisclosed fee. The Senegal international played 14 league games in his first season for the Blues under Rafael Benitez managing to score only twice. He has however struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho making one two appearances in the league.
Fernando Torres‘ return to form and the signing of Eto’o has led to Ba falling further down the pecking order in a frustrating season for him. His international carrier has also taken a hit and has managed to play only one game this year under Alain Giresse.
Valencia on the other hand are still looking to replace their star Roberto Soldado who left for Spurs in the beginning of the season for a fee of £26m. Valencia are currently languishing at number 12 in the league and are desperate for a boost which the Senegal international is likely to produce.
With reports of Chelsea snooping in the market for a quality striker, it is most likely that Ba will be forced to look elsewhere. Ba almost joined local rivals Arsenal on loan but a last minute reconsideration by Mourinho led to the deal being called off.
This deal however is more likely to happen if Valencia come in with a firm bid as Mourinho looks to make space for a much needed quality striker for the Blues.
