If you were listening carefully on August 31st 2016, you would have heard the collective sound of thousands of jaws hitting the floor as West Ham revealed the double signing of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano from Corinthians.

Later reports would suggest that other Premier League clubs had avoided signing the players because of third party involvement but this was still one of the most surprising coups in Premier League history.
