1. Kicking off the list for the top transfers of the summer transfer window for the top 4 English Clubs so far is Shinji Kagawa. He made a brave move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United for £17million.
Sir Alex, is very excited after adding Kagawa to United’s line-up. He believes that the 23-year-old’s pace, skill and eye for goal will bear fruits for them. Kagawa will certainly bolster the midfield for the Red Devils alongside Giggs, Valencia, Carrick and others next season. Kagawa having played a vital role last season for Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga triumph is expected to bring back the Premier League Title to Old Trafford and also capture more silverware.
2. Nick Powell is the second summer signing for the Red Devils this season following Shinji Kagawa. Powell has been assigned with the jersey no. 25, which was previously owned by Antonio Valencia. This young 18 year old English midfielder made the move from Crewe for £4 million on a four year deal. Last year this teenager scored 16 goals for his club side Crewe Alexandra. Powell would be hoping for a spot in the starting line-up for Manchester United after a promising season with Crewe.
Sir Alex Ferguson said that Nick is an exceptional talent and has been trained well at Crewe. Ferguson was delighted that Nick chose to come to United and believes he has a lot to offer to the club and the fans.
3. After the Gunners captain, Robin Van Persie, decided not to renew his contract; Olivier Giroud, replacing RVP, has the long-term potential to make Arsenal fans forget who Van Persie is. Olivier Giroud made the move to Arsenal from Montpellier for around £13 million. The signing will give the Gunners depth in their attack as this guy has great goal scoring capabilities.
Giroud scored 39 goals in the last 2 seasons for Montpellier out of which 25 goals were scored in the last season. So the Arsenal fans would be hoping that once he gets acclimated at Arsenal, he can surely bring back the glory days for Arsenal.
4. Another of Arsene Wenger’s signing of the summer is Lukas Podolski who made a stunning move from FC Cologne to Arsenal at the start of the transfer window for £11 million. The signing of this attacking footballer will surely boost their attacking options and give some much-needed depth to their squad.
Podolski is a prolific goal-scorer and a definite target up front for the Gunners. Having signed two potential goal scorers in the form of Giroud and Podolski, Arsenal will hope to win some silverware this season. Similarly to Olivier Giroud, Podolski could turn out to be an even bigger signing than expected, given the current Robin van Persie saga. Oxlade-Chamberlain, the English international has been very happy with Arsene Wenger’s summer signings and is impressed with the calibre of both players.
5. This is believed to be best transfer of the summer so far. Eden hazard, the 21 year old Belgian made the move to Chelsea from Lille on a five year contract. The deal was finalized for a whopping £32 million. This young lad, having scored 22 goals last season for Lille, bolsters the Champions League winning team to a huge extent. This prolific goal scoring midfielder is one of the hottest prospects in the world of football.
Eden would be the proud owner of the jersey No. 21 and the blue fans would be hoping he would fill the gap created by the transfer of Drogba and Salomon Kalou. Hazard’s inclusion in addition to the purchase of his younger brother – Thorgan Hazard, from Lens, will make Chelsea a hot favorite to win the premier league title.
6. 23 year old attacking German midfielder, Marko Marin, has joined Chelsea from Werder Bremen for £7 million. This move has surprised many as they believes that with a star studded midfield consisting of Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard, Raul Meireles, Juan Mata, Marin doesn’t stand a chance of making it to the starting eleven.
Marin is known for his attacking play in the midfield and has impressed a lot of people with his agility, creativity, speed and dribbling skills. He has also been referred to as the German Messi for his attractive playing style. This transfer has been termed as a big deal as it has surprised many football pundits. So, let’s wait and see whether Marin warms the bench or plays an active role on the field.
7. Fabio Borini having played the last season with the Italian side – Roma, has moved to Anfield for a fee which is assumed to be around £10 million. After Dirk Kuyt moved to Fenerbahce, Borini is expected to partner Luis Suarez upfront and score many goals for his new club. The 21 year old Italian will wear the jersey number 29 and would be looking to add to his goal tally for Liverpool.
Having played under the supervision of Brendan Rodgers twice before, Borini would be hoping for success with the Reds. Borini might take time to settle in with the Reds’ playing style but with Rodgers beside him, it will just be a matter of time before Borini strikes gold for his new club, Liverpool.
8. Park Ji Sung, the South-Korean superstar, made it big while playing for Manchester United for the period of 2005-2012. Though Park is not a big name in world football, he has played a vital role in the team’s success. Not having made the starting line-up on a numerous occasions last season, Park made a move to Queens Park Rangers for £4 million fee. The transfer might not affect the Red Devils much, but it was a very big deal for QPR.
Park played 205 matches for the Red Devils and was a popular figure at Old Trafford and would be surely missed. Queens Park Rangers had survived relegation last season and managed to stay on for another year. With the 31 year old South-Korean star, the QPR fans will be hoping for a much improved performance this season. Park will also be hoping to hone his skills and take his new club to a higher position in the Premier League table this season.
9. Didier Drogba after having played for Chelsea for 8 long years, he has completed his move from Chelsea to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua on a two-and-a-half-year contract. The Ivory Coast international joined his former Chelsea mate and French striker Nicolas Anelka. Drogba with over 150 goals for Chelsea will be heavily missed at Stamford Bridge.
Though Chelsea have Fernando Torres and new signing Eden Hazard as their main strike power, it will take time for the Chelsea fans to forget what Drogba has done for the Blues. This transfer was very big for Chelsea as the experience and agility of Drogba will be definitely missed.
10. Former Chelsea striker and another Ivory Coast international – Salamon Kalou, together with Didier Drogba, left Chelsea after the UEFA Champions League triumph. Salomon Kalou has joined Lille on a free transfer as Chelsea released him after his contract expired.
The 26-year-old struggled for regular appearances like Park-Ji-Sung of Manchester United. With the signing of Eden Hazard and regular starting line-up chances would have been bleak if somehow Kalou would have got his contract extended. Kalou could be a big signing for Lille, who won the French league and Cup in 2011.
Manchester City is yet to make any new signings.
