Port of Spain (Trinidad), Dec 14 (IANS/CMC) Trinidad and Tobago national midfielder Joevin Jones arrived in Italy to participate in a 12-day trial with Serie A club Udinese.
If he does well, the 21-year old footballer, who plays for W Conncection in Trinidad, is expected to receive a contract with Udinese, which applies its trade in Italy’s mid-division, reports Xinhua.
Udinese has developed a reputation for buying young foreign players, turning them into stars and then selling them at high fees.
“Udineses’s latest unknown player that might make a name for himself arrives from Trinidad and Tobago,” the Italian website Gianlucadimarzio.com reported.
“He landed in Italy on Friday and will try out for Udinese this week and if he’s convincing enough, he’ll get a contract.”
Jones already has 31 caps with Trinidad and Tobago and has played 35 times with W Connection since 2009 but has never scored.
