Twitter explodes as Arsene Wenger records first 'competitive' win over Jose Mourinho

Wenger Mourinho
Arsene Wenger got the better of his bitter rival, finally!

Arsenal recorded a 2-0 win over bitter rivals Manchester United to keep their slim hopes of a top-four finish alive. The Gunners took the lead through Granit Xhaka’s strike from 35 yards in the 54th minute, which took a wicked deflection off the back of Ander Herrera to loop over David De Gea into the top corner.

Former Manchester United striker, Danny Welbeck, doubled his side’s lead less than 4 minutes later as he thumped home a header from an Oxlade-Chamberlain cross. The win marked Arsene Wenger’s first victory over nemesis Jose Mourinho in a ‘competitive’ game, given that he has only ever beaten the Portuguese in the Community Shield prior to today’s game.

Here is how Twitter reacted:

13th time lucky for Arsene Wenger!

Ozil was not invisible for once against a big team!

The legend of Francis Coquelin....

Specialist in failure, who?

What a sight that would have been.

They love noggin in it, don’t they?

Boom Xhaka-Laka!

Oxlade-Chamberlain was one of the best players on the pitch!

Dat Guy!

Dat Guy explaining his celebration against his former club.

2 goals in less than 4 minutes...

Oh, Mr. Wayne!

Poor Luke Shaw was guilty of not being on the pitch!

Was that t/he plan?
