Cristiano Ronaldo came to the rescue of Real Madrid to help them overturn a 2-1 deficit and record a 4-2 extra-time win over Kashima Antlers in the final of the Club World Cup. Karim Benzema opened the scoring for his side before the Antlers equalised at the stroke of half-time through Gabu Shibasaki.
It was Shibusaki again who scored the second goal for the Japanese side in the 52nd minute. Ronaldo equalised from the spot after Lucas Vasquez was brought down inside the box. Kashima missed a host of chances towards the end of 90 minutes and the game was forced into extra-time.
The 4-time Ballon d’Or winner put his side ahead in the 97th minute before scoring the winner in the 104th minute, while completing his 40th hat-trick for Real Madrid. He surpassed many records in his silent blitzkrieg and Twitter, as you would expect, didn't disappoint.
