Liverpool have beaten Chelsea to the signature of Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, in a deal believed to be in the region of £40m.
The 24-year-old was in the last year of his contract with the Gunners and had conveyed his decision to the North London outfit that he will not be extending his contract. Chelsea were the first club to agree a fee with the Gunners, however, Chamberlain couldn't agree personal terms with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
This provided Liverpool with the window to sweep in and complete the signing of the English international, making him the first player in Premier League history to move from Arsenal to Liverpool.
Twitter, as you would expect, didn't hold back following the announcement by the two clubs:
The confirmation...
Ohh, the humour...
Looks like Arsenal fans will not miss him...
Ohh Southampton...
Is it automatic for Southampton players?
Was it?
Who got the better deal?
OUCH!
The love between the two...
Hahaha...
The decision making, though!
