Riyad Mahrez seems to have pulled a last-minute plot twist as he leaves Algeria camp on deadline day, to handle transfer business but subsequently goes missing. The winger is currently on International duty and has been training with the Algerian football team.
After handing in a transfer request way back in July, Mahrez had been linked with a plethora of European clubs as potential destinations. However, deadline day has come and gone but Mahrez still hasn't been heard from.
Twitter understandably went wild as the Arsenal and Chelsea target went missing on deadline day.
As the hours passed by, speculation over the 26-year old's disappearance only intensified. The word spread like wild fire, with throngs of fans taking to Twitter about Mahrez's whereabouts.
While some expressed genuine concern, others were at their comical best, as usual, wasting no time in trolling the Leicester City star. Some fans joked that Mahrez has gone away on a trip, and others joked that the winger had gotten lost somewhere.
One fan went so far as to compare Mahrez to Peter Odemwingie, who had decided to take transfer matters into his own hands, as he had tried to push a move through from West Brom to QPR back in 2013
Fans of other clubs, though, seem optimistic about his departure and have urged their respective clubs to hurry up and sign the former PFA Players' Player of the Year winner.
Several clubs have emerged as potential destinations for Mahrez, and several more have entered the picture since he went missing.
The summer transfer window has officially been slammed shut, and there's been no word yet on Mahrez or his future, with several fans enquiring about what lies in store for the Algerian.
Well, our guess is as good as yours, as we wait to see what the future holds for the swashbuckling midfielder.
