With a golden opportunity presented to him, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made a mess of a penalty that would have given Arsenal all three points against Tottenham. Arsenal were clearly the better team in the North London derby and had taken the lead following Aaron Ramsey's goal in the 15th minute. As much as Tottenham grew into the game and created chances, Arsenal's defence held strong throughout the game.
Harry Kane had the chance to equalise for his side, but his goal was ruled out for offside by the linesman. After the break, Unai Emery withdrew Matteo Guendouzi for Lucas Torreira. The Uruguayan marked Christian Eriksen well and limited the chances which the Lilywhites created.
However, Spurs were soon presented with a golden opportunity to equalise when Shkodran Mustafi shoved Harry Kane to the floor.
After watching the replay, it became apparent that the England striker was actually offside, but Anthony Taylor had already awarded the spot-kick. Kane made no mistake from the spot as he sent Bernd Leno the wrong way. Leno had previously made a couple of miraculous saves to deny Tottenham.
What ensued was a frantic fight for the winner as both teams were equally keen to get all three points. Aubameyang was presented the chance to win it for his side in stoppage time, but his soft spot-kick was easily saved by Lloris.
The former Dortmund striker had no one to blame but himself and he definitely ought to reflect on the golden opportunity missed. Here is how fans reacted to his miss.
