Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-1 in a thrilling encounter on Friday night at Stamford Bridge. A match that kicked off with a light show to celebrate a Friday night game, the game saw the Anfield side win away at Chelsea for a second consecutive season.
A commanding first half from Jurgen Klopp’s side saw the Reds take a 2-0 lead without being troubled by Chelsea themselves. A goal from Dejan Lovren saw Liverpool take the lead after he turned in a Philippe Coutinho cross at the far post.
Jordan Henderson then doubled the lead with a world class strike from outside the box that curled and dipped into the top corner to beat a desperately diving Thibaut Courtois with surprising ease. Half-time even saw a few boos around Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea fought back in the second half when Diego Costa managed to reduce the deficit with a goal from a Nemanja Matic assist inside a crowded box. But they just could not get a second goal in spite of Antonio Conte making a triple substitution late in the game.
