The 231st Merseyside Derby between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park ended in a goalless draw. Mohamed Salah missed the game due to a groin injury whereas Roberto Firmino started on the bench.
Dominic Solanke had a couple of good chances in the opening 45 minutes but failed to convert from six yards. On the other hand, Yannick Bolasie's curling effort pulled out a magnificent save from Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius.
It was a fairly slow and dull derby but in the final 10 minutes, Everton stepped up their intensity and created some glorious opportunities to grab the winner but failed to register any of the shots on target.
The draw means that Everton's eight-year winless drought in the Derby stretches on while the Reds go up to 67 points and remain in third place in the Premier League table.
