Real Madrid were held at the Santiago Bernabeu by SD Eibar, with the game ending 1-1. The result notched up history as this was the first time since 2006, that Real Madrid drew 4 consecutive games – coincidentally when Zinedine Zidane was a player for Los Blancos.
It could have been worse for Real Madrid, as Fran Rico scored Eibar’s first ever goal against Real Madrid in La Liga in the 6th minute, to set the cat amongst the pigeons. However, Cristiano Ronaldo set up Gareth Bale for the equaliser in the 17th minute, but Real Madrid struggled to deal with Eibar’s positive play, consigning them to second place in the table, which could go down to 3rd if Barcelona win.
Predictably, Twitter was merciless as they rubbed it in for Real Madrid.
